The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) is the national licensing body for Australia’s refrigeration and air conditioning sector. On behalf of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, we administer the ARCtick licensing scheme which licenses 135,000 individuals and businesses to use refrigerant gases prescribed under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995.
Our services extend to technical and business support, training quality assistance and education campaigns for industry and consumers, in order to improve standards and raise public awareness of the sector. Field officers in each state capital work closely with technicians and businesses to provide support on technical matters and training.
Now entering its 19th year, ARC continues to innovate and provide new services to benefit the sector.
Our Green Scheme Accreditation program is the only national accreditation scheme available for technicians who wish to work with low-GWP refrigerants. It provides a valuable pathway for RAC professionals to voluntarily upskill in the use of new and emerging refrigerants and technologies.
